A LITTLE ABOUT US

In May 1919, Harry J. Foster joined General Motors as a factory representative after leaving the Royal Flying Corps as a fighter pilot. With his interest growing in the developing auto retail industry, he left General Motors in 1923 to join a well known dealership called Giles, Rice and Peters.

It was the beginning of a career that would span 50 years to complete a century of association with GM and auto retailing. In 1952, Mr. Foster was invited to become a GM Pontiac Buick Dealer. He was sold five acres of market property at the corner of Sheppard and Warden to build his new dealership.

During his time Foster became one of the most respected dealers in the area due to his belief that the customer always came first and was the foremost important part of the sales process.

Foster Pontiac Buick is not only the oldest established dealership but also the oldest continuously operating auto retailer in the area. We have been serving the Scarborough and surrounding area for more than 51 years now. What other dealer has the honour to say that?

The Company's success comes now from the leadership of Mark Murphy who in 1993 acquired Foster Pontiac Buick GMC with partner John Esplen from Harry J Foster. Mark brings over 20 years of experience in the automobile industry and with his staff of over 70 people who are dedicated totally to our customer’s wants and needs. The relationships we foster is the most important aspect of our business.

On April 11, 1995 Foster Pontiac Buick GMC was the victim of a fire and with the exception of the showroom area the dealership was devastated. The next day a trailer was installed and the staff rallied around the situation and not to anyone's surprise our customers were truly patient during these adverse conditions, and consequently Foster Pontiac had one of their best years to date.

Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, Foster new Image 2000 dealership is well equipped with its state of the art facility to service our customers well into the new millennia. At Foster we are very proud of our Service Department from its climate controlled service drive thru, and the express lube lane to Fosters shuttle service for convenient customer transportation. All aspects of Fosters are geared with the customer in mind. And if you prefer to wait for your vehicle, our café centre is available next to the showroom and with its oversized window casements a complete view of our service facility is yours to enjoy. This fantastic facility has  recently been entirely renovated for you, our new Kia customers!
