Kia Sorento vs. Mazda CX-9
The Kia Sorento and Mazda CX-9 are the peak of the three-row seating SUV market. The Sorento has been redesigned the previous model year, and continues to build on that revamp, featuring a new 4-cylinder engine and available features like 2nd-row captain’s seats, digital instrument cluster, and wider infotainment screen. All these great features come in the now-standard three-row seating body, perfect for the modern family lifestyle. Find your Sorento here at Foster Kia, and see how it stacks up against a top competitor in the Mazda CX-9.
Kia Sorento Design
The 2022 Sorento offers the same redesign debuted in the previous model year, on the inside and out. Featuring more head and leg room than ever before for both driver, passenger, and rear occupants. It features a more modern interior design, with superior technology and infotainment compared to the CX-9.
Mazda CX-9 Design
The CX-9 features a slightly more coupe-like shape with a slanted roof shape towards the rear, rather than it being squared off like traditional SUV designs. However, this design leads to less functional space for cargo on the interior. The exterior design compensates for this, with a body that is 25.5cm longer than the Sorento. On the inside, it lacks the full complement of technology features found in the Sorento.
Both models feature the same level of safety options and features across various trim levels. With features like blind spot monitoring, forward collision avoidance, lane-keep systems, automatic high beams, and an overhead-view monitor all equipped, you’ll be well protected in your 2022 Sorento. A similar level of features can be found on the CX-9.
Kia Sorento Performance
The Kia Sorento features two engine options, either the standard 2.5L 4-Cylinder engine, or the Turbocharged 2.5L 4-Cylinder, which produces 250hp and 311lb-ft of torque. All-Wheel-Drive is standard, along with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Sorento achieves 9.9L/100km combined fuel rating, which slightly exceeds the CX-9.
Mazda CX-9 Performance
The CX-9 offers only one engine option, the 2.5L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder that pushes out 227hp and 310lb-ft of torque. The CX-9 has a combined fuel efficiency of 10.5L/100km, clocking in slightly higher than what the Sorento offers.
Kia Sorento vs. Mazda CX-9 Verdict
