Kia Telluride vs. Hyundai Palisade

Kia Telluride vs. Hyundai Palisade

As far as luxury SUVs go at non-luxury prices, the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade represent the top of their class. Both offer the power and capability you’d demand out of an SUV while doling out numerous luxury amenities. Yes, they are eerily similar, because, in fact, they share a model platform! Striking similarities aside, the real question is, which one is the better pick? Read on with the folks at Foster Kia, as we go through the nitty-gritty details and see which SUV reigns supreme.

Exterior Design & Features

Kia Telluride Exterior

Luxurious, through and through, the Telluride turns heads with its stout front fascia. From the bold lettering across the hood, durable front bumper, to the sharp fog light design. The inclusion of the available Nightfall Edition package with blacked-out 20" wheels and other accents pushes the Telluride into an unfathomable realm of luxury.

Hyundai Palisade Exterior

Offering up a near parallel build, the Hyundai Palisade is by no means a vehicle to brush off. The Palisade’s front fascia goes for a more round and shapely approach, with a grille that extends down into the front bumper. The headlamps are a little less luxuriously shaped and look more suited for off-roading.

Interior Design & Features

Kia Telluride Interior

Step inside the cabin of the Telluride and find lush detail and comfort on every surface. Nappa leather is smooth to the touch and provides a premium feel to the seat. Better yet, your temperature will always be regulated thanks to heated and air-cooled technology. The 10.25” multimedia interface with navigation is standard across all trim levels and of course what’s better to relax to than the symphony of your Harman Kardon premium audio system.

Hyundai Palisade Interior

The Palisade competes with the interior of the Telluride, offering many of the same high-quality materials and features throughout the cabin. Premium audio, Nappa leather, and more. However standard features on the base trim levels are where the Palisade begins to fall off. No 10.25” touchscreen, no 8-way power driver seat, and no standard leather seating take points off of the Palisade’s case for a better SUV.

Performance & Capability

Kia Telluride Performance

Repping a 3.8L V6 that’s good for 291 horses and 262 lb-ft of torque, the Telluride has a balanced engine, providing more than enough power. However, the 3.8L V6 is the sole engine option for both models, making performance specs come down to the wire. Though similar drives, the Telluride does offer C-MDPS electric power-assist steering.

Hyundai Palisade Performance

With the same engine as the Telluride, performance specs on the Palisade are near parallel to its competitor. Credit is given to where credit is due, however, Hyundai’s HTRAC AWD system is not included as standard equipment. When it comes to tricky Ontario winters, that does make a difference.

Kia Telluride Safety

Safety is where the Telluride goes above and beyond. With near every Kia safety technology standard in this SUV, impressive levels of confidence are granted to the driver. Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Follow Assist, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist are just some of the standard highlights.

Hyundai Palisade Safety

Chalked full of safety features itself, the Palisade does have much to offer the cautious driver. The Palisade does also offer its own safety features that parallel the Telluride, however, some standard safety features are again lacking, most notably the lack of Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance.
